3️⃣ Oral Placement Therapy (OPT)
Focus: Strengthening the oral muscles for speech and feeding through tactile and visual cues.
Includes:
- Tools like whistles, straws, bite blocks, chewy tubes
- Mouth, tongue, lip, and jaw coordination training
- Activities targeting placement of articulators (lips, tongue, jaw) for better sound production
- Helps bridge the gap between motor planning and speech output
Used For: Children with limited speech, low oral tone, apraxia, feeding issues.
4️⃣ Speech and Language Interaction Therapy
Focus: Developing both expressive (what a child says) and receptive (what a child understands) language in natural social settings.
Includes:
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Turn-taking, conversation skills
- Group play and storytelling
- Functional communication for daily needs
- Emotional expression through speech
Used For: Autism, language delay, non-verbal children, children with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
