🎯 What is Vocational Training for Special Children?

Vocational training helps children and young adults with disabilities or special needs gain practical, hands-on skills that prepare them for independent living, self-employment, or sheltered or supported jobs. It focuses on their abilities, strengths, and interests, rather than limitations.

👦👧 Who Can Join?

  • Young individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disability, Cerebral Palsy, etc.
  • Children or youth above 12 years or those who have completed basic education (NIOS/OBE/functional learning)
  • Those who need life skills and work training instead of academics

1. Office & Computer Skills
  • Basic computer operation (typing, printing, internet use)
  • Filing, photocopying, data entry (for high-functioning individuals)
2. Craft & Creative Work
  • Paper bag making, envelope folding
  • Greeting cards, diya and rakhi making, decoration items
  • Painting and block printing
3. Sewing & Tailoring (basic)
  • Stitching buttons, hemming, using sewing machines (if appropriate)
  • Embroidery, folding and packaging clothes
4. Cooking & Food Preparation
  • Making tea, sandwiches, snacks
  • Cleaning and organizing kitchen items
  • Basic hygiene and food handling
5. Gardening & Plant Care
  • Watering plants, potting, cleaning garden area
  • Simple nursery tasks
6. Retail & Packaging Skills
  • Labelling, sorting, weighing and packing products
  • Counting change, understanding money (functional math)
